Functional part production

STMEDIA can help you with custom functional parts. We can print in various materials, from super strong to flexible like rubber. These parts can either be used as part of a video production, or your own project. We have also experience in producing parts for manufacturing.

BENEFITS OF 3D PRINTED PARTS

While 3D printed parts are not as strong as metal parts, they do come with many benefits. Contact us to see if 3D printing is the right choice for your project.

  • Materials: We can print in extremely strong and stiff materials such as PA6CF (Nylon with carbon fibres). We also often use ABS, PETG, PLA or more flexible materials such as TPU.
  • Production speed: 3D printed parts don’t require special tooling to be made, like injection molds. Printing parts usually takes 8-20-hours of printing time. This depends on size and mechanical properties.
  • Cost: While custom part creation using traditional methods can cost 10.000 EUR or more, 3D printing is extremely affordable.
  • Local manufacturing: 3D printed parts are created locally, and on-demand. New versions or spares don’t take weeks to arrive after ordering.

SAMPLE PROJECTS

FIXTURES FOR VARIOUS PARTS

STMEDIA has created various fixtures for parts. These fixtures make working on the sample parts much easier for the workers. The fixtures were created in fixturemate and printed on UltiMaker printers in PETG. These type of fixtures are ideal in a manufacturing environment.

CAMERA TOP-DOWN MOUNT

While many existing parts facilitate to mount your camera, I needed something else. And I needed it the next morning. That’s why I modeled and printed this custom camera mount. On the top side it connects to my ball head. On the bottom, it has more than enough space to mount the camera. This way, could easily position the camera right above my subject and start filming the next morning. Compared to using traditional metal parts, we also saved hugely on weight. Which was important for the rig we used here.
